Sarah Mickelson, Counsel
Sarah Mickelson lobbies Congress and federal agencies on behalf of the firm’s rural development-related clients. In this role, Sarah helps build Congressional support for key federal programs and legislation, analyze legislation, proposed regulatory rules, and legal precedent, and draft legislative and advocacy materials, including talking points, testimony, regulatory comments, and research reports. In addition, she helps provide the day-to-day management of client organizations. This includes creating and managing online and social media content, spearheading membership recruitment efforts, and securing fundraising and grant opportunities.
Prior to joining Rapoza Associates in February 2012, Sarah worked as a legislative and policy analyst at the National Community Reinvestment Coalition. Sarah also served as a law fellow at the Democratic Caucus at the U.S. House of Representatives.
Sarah’s research on the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit and its use in rural communities has been published in the Journal of Multi-State Taxation and Incentives.
She graduated with a J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law and a B.A. from the University of Virginia. She currently is a Member of the Virginia Bar.
